FOUNDATION AND HISTORY
Established in 2005 within Afyon Kocatepe University and continuing its undergraduate education and training activities in the departments of “Accommodation Management”, “Travel Management”, “Food and Beverage Management” and “Tourist Guidance” until 2013, the School of Tourism and Hotel Management was established in the 2012-2013 academic year. With the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 2013/4710, the school was transformed into a faculty and the “Faculty of Tourism” was established.
There are “Tourism Management”, “Gastronomy and Culinary Arts”, “Tourism Guidance” and “Recreation Management” departments at the Faculty of Tourism. Currently, the “Tourism Management” department accepts students to the regular education, while the “Gastronomy and Culinary Arts” and “Tourism Guidance” departments accept students for both regular and secondary education.
In the Faculty of Tourism, more than 1500 students are studying, and there are also master and doctorate programs with a thesis in the Department of Tourism Management, master’s program with a thesis in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and thesis and non-thesis master’s programs (secondary education) in the Department of Tourism Guidance.
The Faculty of Tourism continues its educational activities in the 5th Education Building, in the Ahmet Necdet Sezer Campus of Afyon Kocatepe University.

To produce scientific knowledge at a universal level, to raise qualified individuals who will improve the position of the tourism sector in international competition in terms of profession and make a contribution to regional development.

To be among the leading faculties at the national level by raising the qualified human resources needed by the tourism sector, to make a contribution to regional development by constantly increasing the quality in scientific research and educational activities, and to be a faculty with international recognition in the long term.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
There are 18 classrooms in the Faculty of Tourism, one of which is a computer laboratory. In the computer laboratory, there are 50 computers with internet access that contain package programs related to tourism and hotel management and package programs related to travel management. In addition, since the Faculty is located in the central campus, the students always have the opportunity to benefit from the central library and e-library, where there are many books and publications for students. In addition to vocational courses, students take intensive English and computer courses throughout their 4-year education at the faculty.
Afyon Kocatepe University’s Tourism and Hotel Management Program Education and Application Center are used by Faculty students for practical purposes. In the center, there are various social areas such as 14 rooms, 3 of which are suites, and an accommodation unit with 35 beds, a restaurant for 400 people, and a breakfast room for 40 people.
In order to adapt students to the sector more easily, our management gives great importance to the implementation of applied courses in cooperation with the sector. In line with the agreement made with five-star hotels in Afyonkarahisar city center, our students have the opportunity to practice in the relevant hotel businesses within the scope of “Front Office Management”, “Housekeeping Management” and “Food & Beverage Management” courses. Thanks to this program, it is aimed to contribute to the personal and professional development of our students, as well as to provide them with the opportunity to see the operations in hotel businesses properly.
ACADEMIC STAFF
There are 26 faculty members and staff, including 2 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 6 Assistant Professors, 7 Lecturers and 5 Research Assistants, and 6 administrative staff within the faculty. On the other hand, lecturers from the required units and departments give the relevant courses related to the courses in the field of other disciplines.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Graduate students can work in private sector accommodation businesses (hotels, holiday resorts, etc.), travel businesses (A, B, C Group Travel Agencies, National and International Airline Companies, etc.), food and beverage businesses and other institutions operating in the tourism sector. They have the opportunity to find jobs as middle and senior managers in organizations. Curriculums and contents in the faculty departments serve this purpose and the wishes and needs of the relevant stakeholders are taken into account in the creation of these contents.
Faculty students have employment opportunities in the relevant units of public institutions and organizations according to the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) score. In addition, faculty graduates can continue their graduate education and find career opportunities in the academic staff of universities.
SOCIAL-CULTURAL AND SPORTIVE ACTIVITIES
Students can play football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, step mountaineering, boxing, wrestling, taekwondo and karate and participate in tournaments by entering teams. Being aware of the fact that a modern university will be formed through social activities as well as a good education, our university is leading many activities in this direction. There is a “Gastronomy Club” within our faculty, which operates in a way that allows our students to continuously improve themselves. With the active work and efforts of the students of the Faculty of Tourism, various social activities such as tours to cities and regions with cultural, historical and natural richness, seminars, symposiums, conferences, panels, conversations, department teas and picnics are organized during the academic year. In addition to the Gastronomy Club, at the university, there are many student clubs that organize events in different areas such as technology club, travelers club, folklore club, photography club, literature club, book club, aviation club, young entrepreneurs club, cycling club and scouting club, which operate in a way that allows students to constantly improve themselves
